The competition is increasing every passing day in any field you look at. And e-commerce is no different. There was a time when amazon.com ruled the e-commerce arena until recent when a huge number of other websites came into the picture. However, amazon still remains one of the highly recommended and trusted website for online shopping. Implementing the new techniques and simplifying the overall buying process, amazon always remained in the forefront for timely and appropriate delivery. Taking this USP further, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed this Sunday about “Octocopter”, a futuristic technique to deliver small packages to the consumers in just 30 minutes.

Octocopters are nothing but mini helicopters that are built to fly small packages from the amazon warehouses to the buyers. Though sounding like a science fiction, this ambitious project by amazon has created a new benchmark in the e-commerce industry. However, the project still requires additional safety testing and federal approval, the CEO estimates that Amazon Prime Air would be up and running with the next four to five years.

With over 86% of their products below five pounds, the Prime Air has been specifically developed to deliver small packages of around five pounds. Fetched with an electric motor that can cover over 10-miles, Octocopter is devised to cover a significant population in urban areas. Moreover, the approach makes amazon a Green E-commerce Company since the device is eco-friendly.

How do you think would this new innovative delivery technique help amazon to evolve? Please share your views on this post in comments.
